The Biggest Fear That Stops People From Starting
With Bring a Friend Week coming up, let’s talk about the thing that stops most people before they even begin. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard these exact words: “I’m not fit enough to do CrossFit.” LET’S SHUT THAT DOWN. You don’t need to be fit to start. You just need to start.
CrossFit Is About Growth, Not Perfection
CrossFit is a training ground. It’s not about being good at everything. It’s about showing up, learning, and growing. Every single person in this gym started somewhere. Most of us started completely unsure, probably unfit, and a little scared. That’s normal.
How We Coach: Scaling, Support & Celebrating Wins
We scale. We modify. We support and we, as coaches > coach. We celebrate every win, especially the ones that happen outside the comfort zone. At CrossFit Feel Good, coaching isn’t just shouting cues or counting reps. It’s connection and it’s care. We’re here to support you. We don’t just tell you what to do > we show you. We demonstrate movements, we break things down and we adapt when needed. We notice when you’re struggling and we celebrate when you push through.
Why Empathy Matters in Coaching
We’re human too. We get what it’s like to feel unsure, to have off days and to carry stuff from outside the gym. That’s why we coach with empathy. We meet you where you are and we walk alongside you.
Common Excuses—and the Truth Behind Them
So, if your friend says: “I’ll come when I’m fitter” → TELL THEM: That’s what training is for. “I’ll slow everyone down” → TELL THEM: We don’t care how fast you go. We care that you TRY. “I’m not strong enough” → TELL THEM: Strength is built. No one walks in with it all. “I feel embarrassed, I don’t know the movements” → TELL THEM: None of us did at first. That’s why there’s a coach.
Why Community Is the Secret Ingredient
Let them know they’re never doing it alone. CrossFit Feel Good is full of genuinely supportive people across every class and every level. It really is one of the things I love the most. We lift each other up, celebrate effort and make those hard days a bit easier. That feeling of belonging is one of the best parts of it all.
To Our Members: You’re the Reason Someone Else Starts
To our CFFG members: You’ve already done the hard part: Starting. Now you get to be the reason someone else does too. Let them see what effort looks like and let them know they belong to our CrossFit Feel Good community! Tell them in your own words, WHY you love it so much!
Reflect on Your Journey & Be Proud
Ask yourself and Reflect: What’s something you’ve done in the gym that your old self wouldn’t believe? Reflect on your first week at CrossFit and where you’re at now in your journey. I bet there are moments and achievements you can be very proud of.
Be the Reason Someone Starts
Be the reason someone starts. Think of one person who needs this. Send the text. Make the invite. Tell them: “You don’t need to be fit. You just need to start and I’ll be right there with you.”
Come Anyway: The Power of Showing Up
The beauty of this place is that you don’t have to face those days alone. You’ve got a community that gets it. Coaches who see you. Teammates who lift you up. SO, when it’s hard → COME ANYWAY. When you’re tired → COME ANYWAY. When you’re doubting yourself → especially then, COME ANYWAY. Because every time you do, you remind someone else that they can too.
