Do I need to be in good shape to start CrossFit?

Not at all. We have athletes starting at all levels of conditioning. ”I’m not fit enough to do CrossFit” is a common misconception.

The universal scalability and flexibility of CrossFit allows us to have complete beginners and more experienced athletes working the same, although modified versions of a workout.

Each workout we program can be scaled specifically to meet the needs of each member in the class.

Do I need a background in lifting weights?

No. While weightlifting is a fundamental component and essential for developing strength and power, it is by no means a pre-requisite for starting CrossFit.

In fact, it’s often easier for someone with no experience to be coached and learn the techniques because they haven’t developed bad habits that can be challenging to correct.

In many cases it is women that develop weightlifting skills quicker because they use technique rather than relying on natural strength.

What makes CrossFit safer than a regular gym?

CrossFit Feel Good gym Hornsby creates a safe environment. Our experienced gym coaches and personal trainers are with you every step of the way to ensure each exercise is carried out with the correct technique. CrossFit Feel Good is focused on providing people results while minimising the chance of injury.

Mechanics: This means that you first need to do the movements correctly with good technique
Consistency: This is the ability to do the movements over and over again, using safe and efficient technique
Intensity: Intensity is the ability to do the movements quickly, but only after establishing consistency

In addition, by varying the type, weight, and duration of our workouts we prevent the overuse injuries that often occur in other sports and strength programs.

respect the equipment

Do not drop empty barbells, KBs or DBs. Barbells may be dropped carefully when 10kg plates or heavier are loaded. Clean up after yourself, replace everything you use where you found it.

Will I get MASSIVE if I do CrossFit?

This is a common concern, especially for women, when really it shouldn’t be.
Generally speaking, women are not hormonally predisposed to building large amounts of muscle.

Adding lean mass requires dedication to a high-calorie diet and a focus on lifting heavy weights, often. While weightlifting is a key component in our programming, it is just part of a wider fitness model.

Our aim is to make you fitter, stronger, healthier and more confident than when you first walked in the door.

do i have to sign a contract?

Most gyms only focus on the bottom line, not the client and their progress on their fitness journey.

At CrossFit Feel Good Hornsby we want to see you reach your gym goals.

To assist with this are no contracts and no joining fees to join our gym.

Why is CrossFit good value compared to a regular gym?

First impressions may be that CrossFit costs more than a membership to your local “globo” gym. However, instead of walking into another 24×7 gym by yourself and training alone with your headphones on, we provide a group atmosphere where you will have a coach to work with you through every session.

You get one-on-one feedback, motivation, and instruction each and every class. Workouts are programmed by certified CrossFit trainers – all you have to do is show up and work hard! You will also benefit from the support and encouragement of your class-mates.

Am I too young/old to start CrossFit?

No, the CrossFit workout program is adaptable for people of all ages.

We have kids and teenagers training with us, through to members in their 60’s.

what should i bring?

When coming to CrossFit, wear comfortable clothes that you can train in and suitable shoes.

Bring a water bottle and towel.

A good attitude is essential!

Can my kids wait in the gym while I workout?

Yes.

While we don’t offer a creche service, parents are encouraged to make use of the play area so they can get a workout in while looking after the kids.
